Athens (April 30, 2008), the Southeast Asian Studies program presented a talk by Dr. Imam Prasodjo entitled "Building Participatory Community Development in Indonesia." The tal was held in the Friends of the Library Room, 3rd floor Alden library at started at 7 pm. Students and faculties were enjoying the talk a lot because it brought a lot of new sight of how participatory development works at the local context. Prasojo gave a lot of information regarding his direct involvement in leading some development projects in Indonesia, including project post tsunami in Aceh and project in slum areas surrounding Jakarta.
Imam Prasodjo is director of Nurani Dunia, a non-governmental organization committed to participatory development in Indonesia. He is also director of the Center for Research on Inter-Group Relations and Conflict Resolution at the University of Indonesia. Currently, Dr. Prasodjo is a Senior Fulbright Scholar at Monmouth University in New Jersey. He earned his Ph.D. in Sociology from Brown University.
