A photograph by Muhammad Chozin, a student in Southeast Asian Studies Program, titled "Children of the Earth", was chosen as a winner in the Southeast Asia photo exhibit and contest in Athens County, Ohio. The photo was taken in Chozin's home town of Yogyakarta during his summer break 2007. In his title chozin wrote additional sentence: "Kids in Yogyakarta, Indonesia spend their free time after school by swimming in the river. They are taking their evening shower in the river with friends, so they do not have to take shower at home".
Judges chose your photo from an outstanding collection of entrants, based on its photographic quality and significance to Southeast Asia. Judges for the competition included Julia Van Wagenen, visual communications undergraduate student here at Ohio University. Julia works closely with international projects in Yamada House and is also currently pursuing research work in Southeast Asia. Dr. Adam Knee, Assistant Professor in the School of Film, lent his eye for aesthetics to the judging panel. Adam has worked in Southeast Asia for many years and is one of the leading researchers in the country on Thai film. The final judge, Dr. Betsy Partyka, is the Director of the Latin American studies program at Ohio University. She has worked in international studies and research throughout her career.
The photo exhibit is touring throughout area schools for the next few weeks. It will then return to OU campus for the Southeast Asian Studies Program's 40th Anniversary celebration during the first week of March. It will then continue on its tour of area schools until April, when it will be displayed in Casa Nueva Restaurant and Cantina. Then, in May, it will be on tour as part of the International Week festivities.
Unfortunately, because of very strict laws concerning children in photography in the United States, the photo may cause some controversy in its depiction of children in their underwear; therefore, this photo is not be displayed with the exhibit.

Wah kaget gw baca berita ini! juara lomba foto datangnya dari yg bukan tukang foto. What a motivation for unexperienced people in all kinds of field. Congrats, mantap lah pokoknya.
