PERMIAS in SEA Ghost Tales 2008 - The Scariest Performance

Wed, October 29th, South East of Asian Studies Association (SEASA) held the SEA Ghost Tales at Galbraeth Chapel. A night of ghost stories, legends, and tales from Southeast Asia.

PERMIAS was presenting the Indonesian Ghost Story, a little bit similar like last year's theme, Indonesia Ghost Parade, this year we had all the ghosts that performed were packaged in a story.

This year we had the E-12 Indonesian students from the IELSP Cultural Exhange program as the performers. The story is about a couple that had an accident and they end up being in an old and haunted hospital in a small village where no one can reach it. PERMIAS brought up the three famous ghosts, in this story:

  1. The Ghost of Empty Chair (Hantu Bangku Kosong ); it's about a chair that being haunted by a possessed girl's spirit who performed by Muti
  2. Pocong who performed by Steven
  3. Suster Ngesot (A dying nurse crawling or sliding on the floor) who performed by Citra, Iwan, and Ardi

Other performers, such as Fatimah(wife), Ildi(husband), Arin(narrator), Tommy, Putra, Ryza(sound effect arranger), and all people behind the scenes, Arin, Ita, Mila, Dila, Renzi, Mondi were also helping to make the events suceed.

PERMIAS did a great job as usual -Bekah said (president of SEASA) especially for the third ghosts because the last three ghosts were coming from all the way inside the chapel and met at one point on the stage.

The other performances come from the Indonesian classes' students from Nelly's and Widya's class. They were performing the Leak and Kuntilanak Ghost Story. The students who learned Indonesian language (Bahasa) read the dialog and performed all the characteristics that are in the story.

Hello PERMIAS,

I just wanted to let you know that I enjoyed reading your Blog. As some of you know, I am at a university in Germany this year doing research. I was just talking with a Indonesian graduate student here about your group. We had fun looking at your blog and watching the video of the Saman dance from last year's night market. He was very impressed!

I hope you are all doing well!
